The 10mm Auto cartridge can be considered to be a nominal +P+ .40S&W. Kinetic energy at the muzzle for a 165gr bullet from a .40S&W is typically 485 ft-lbf maximum while the same bullet from a 10mm Auto is typically 575 ft-lbf maximum. This is a significant increase in lethality over the .40S&W and would be a good choice if you are willing to practice with a larger gun that is oftentimes more expensive to buy ammunition for. |
